What Is Meta Muse AI?
Meta introduced Muse on September 8, 2026, calling it "the world's first personal AI agent built for everyone." Unlike a chatbot you prompt once per conversation, Muse is designed for long-running goals: you give it a task or a big audacious goal, it builds a personalized plan, coordinates your time and resources, and then advances the work on its own.
Under the hood, Muse runs on a secure cloud virtual machine with its own memory and permission system. It can open a browser, fill out forms, send emails, book travel, shop, and negotiate on your behalf — and it keeps working even after you close the app, coming back to you only when something changes or it needs approval.
Muse is powered by the Muse Spark model family from Meta Superintelligence Labs (the latest: Muse Spark 1.1), which is natively multimodal and supports tool use and multi-agent orchestration. Meta has also released Muse Image and Muse Video for image and video generation.
Muse Pricing: Free, Power & Maximum
Free
Basic access to Muse, includes a free allocation of compute (reported ~1B tokens/week at launch) plus one cloud VM for personal tasks.
Power
More tasks, faster execution, and higher usage limits for daily personal agent work — travel, shopping, email and scheduling.
Maximum
Top consumer tier: maximum usage, priority processing, advanced agent capabilities for power users.
Meta's model: give away a generous free tier to build habit, then monetize through subscriptions — and potentially take a cut of transactions later. You must link a payment card even for the free tier, and Muse warns you before you hit the free-cap limit.
Muse vs OpenAI Dots
OpenAI answered Muse's launch on September 29, 2026 at DevDay with Dots — always-on AI agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, aimed primarily at professionals and enterprises. Dots run 24/7 on their own cloud computer, connect to 4,000+ apps, and surface inside ChatGPT, Slack and Teams.
- Muse leans personal-life: travel, shopping, email, calendar — a "life concierge" with a free tier and $20/$100 plans.
- Dots leans work: files, projects, data — and OpenAI's top tier is $500/mo, 5× Muse's high tier.
- Muse publishes its security architecture (secure VM + Sentinel permission system); Dots' details are still sparse, though you can pre-set action boundaries and it asks before risky actions.
